Employer Sponsored Visas

Businesses in Australia are able to sponsor overseas skilled workers to work for them.

The sponsorship process leads to the granting of an Australian visa – which can be either a long term temporary residency visa under subclass number 457, permanent residency under the Employer Nomination Scheme, or permanent residency using the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme where the employment is located in “regional Australia.”

Regional Australia excludes Sydney (including Wollongong), Melbourne, and Brisbane (including the Gold Coast). It includes all of Western Australia (including Perth), all of South Australia, all of Tasmania, all of the Australian Capital Territory, and all of the Northern Territory.

The same strategies are available to businesses located outside Australia, which want to set up and market their goods or services from an Australian office.

For such businesses the usual visa pathway is a subclass 457 visa initially, allowing the overseas business to establish an office and to quickly move key executives and employees to Australia.

With registered migration agents and experienced visa advisors the team at GM Corporate is in an ideal position to advise on employer sponsored visa strategies – as well tax effective salary packaging opportunities.
